The Sentry service
Sentry is provided to businesses (managed service providers, restaurant brands and franchisees) under a written agreement. To monitor a customer's locations it processes:
- Network and device status from the customer's locations: reachability, internet connection status, device names, models and network addresses.
- Logs sent by the customer's network devices, used to detect and report security events.
- Account details for the people the customer authorizes to sign in: name or email address, role, and sign-in activity.
Sentry is not designed to collect payment card data, and its probes do not read card transactions.
Email we send
Sentry sends operational email only: alerts that a monitored location or device has gone down or recovered, and account messages such as sign-in invitations. These go to recipients that the customer designates. We don't send marketing email from the service, and we don't sell or share email addresses. Customers control who receives alerts and can change or remove recipients at any time; to stop receiving alerts, ask your administrator or contact us.
How data is protected
Data is encrypted in transit. Device credentials are encrypted with managed keys. Access is restricted by role and organization, every user signs in with two-factor authentication, and administrative actions are recorded in an audit log. The service runs on Amazon Web Services in the United States.
Retention
Monitoring history is kept for the term of the customer's agreement so availability and security reporting can cover past periods, and is deleted or returned on request at the end of the agreement, subject to legal requirements.
